Hello, and welcome back.

There has been a long stretch of silence on here and I have something to say about it.

I bought an HTC Incredible, also known as a Droid Incredible, or ADR6300, last year. It is a smartphone running Google's operating system called Android.

When I bought it, Android version 2.1 was the latest and greatest. Shortly after I bought the phone, 2.2 was released. But not for my phone. Alas even now, some phones have yet to have 2.2 (also referred to as Froyo) pushed to them by their carriers. I believe it was almost 6 months after I bought my phone that it officially received Android 2.2.

I used my phone for probably a month before I used a software tool (called unrevoked) and gained root privileges on my phone. I then manually loaded 2.2 on it. It was great.

Right now the hot new release seems to be 2.3 (ala Gingerbread). I read and waited and read some more hoping to find out when it would be pushed to (automatically upgraded) my phone from Verizon. Sadly I learned that my phone (most likely) would not be receiving the 2.3 update from Verizon.

So, Friday last, I manually loaded my phone with Android 2.3. Not from Verizon, but from a team of dedicated individuals with a lot more knowledge of programing than I. (Thank you Cyanogenmod & Team Douche.)

Once again, it has been like getting a new phone.

My point you say? What is my point?

My point is this. I am glad that I bought the phone that I bought. It runs well. It is well supported even if not by Verizon. That is all.

100506 Update

WOW.

That about sums up the time since my last post.

Not really. Its been a whirlwind of activity and change. However, now that the dust (literally and figuratively) is settling, I have a much stronger sense of stability and permanence. I've also come to appreciate how many of my friends are willing to put out effort to help me.

I have discovered french press coffee and like it.

Bought a house.

Moved into it.

My wife gave birth.

Being a Dad takes quite a bit of time.



PS. I am still using the Dvorak layout. It has gotten better, and I prefer it over QWERTY.

PPS. I opted to not get the Casio Brigade because of its cost; functionality/cost vs functionality/cost of an Android device. I haven't upgraded phones at all for the moment.

So... I'm learning to use the Dvorak keyboard layout. Still kinda slow, but I see great potential.

My Samurai's engine warming up like it was summer outside, Priceless.

Its been colder than average the past few weeks. I don't really mind, I enjoy the cold. I also don't get cold easily so there's that to consider also.

So the Christmas tree is down and out. A vast improvement from last Christmas. Groceries are expensive, but not as expensive as fast food. (or slow food for that matter).

Looking forward to a new cell phone to be released by Casio. The "Brigade" looks like it will meet my requirements. (P.S. Still happy with Verizon Wireless)

Two a day pages rock my world. Yay.

090601 Update

Regarding my last post. My friend's video commercial won the contest by a landslide. (It garnered more than 100 votes over any of the other 4 videos.) Good job kantaford, a victory well deserved.

I have 4 new tires on the samurai! Finally after two years of riding on old, dry rotted, multi-plugged, unbalanced, tired tires, I have the quiet comfort of new rubber. For you chosen few out there that care, (you know who you are) I put 30x9.5x15's BFG A/T's on it. I like them, they make me happy.

In other news, I haven't been sleeping much lately. Not because I don't want to, its just difficult to find the time.

The fam has a new cat, well two new cats I think. Haven't seen them yet. A brother of mine graduated. A sister of mine graduated. I'm going to FL soon for a vacay. Work is going well, about to wrap up a big project I've been working on since November '08. I'm not sure, but I think its going to be hot tomorrow. I'm going to see Land of the Lost this coming weekend. Not really sure what to expect of the movie.
